The-SatiristWrapping a Sarong |

I hope this series of seven pictures will help you get a better idea of how to wrap a sarong by seeing where my hands are positioned during each step. I don't hold my hands exactly like in the photos, but I tried to position myself in such a way that you would get to see both hands at all times. It may seem difficult at first, but keep practicing and it will get easier. There are other ways to wrap it, but this is how I learned and am comfortable with.
I didn't photograph the first step which is to hold the sarong fully stretched out due to modesty. The second step is to wrap one corner to the opposite side of your waist like this while sucking in your gut to the best of your ability.
The third step is to wrap the other side as shown so that it will hold the fabric at the first corner.
I slide my hand to where I want the first pleat while keeping tension on my waist band to help keep the fabric in place.
Fold the pleat to where you can make one more pleat and walk your fingers to where it will fold.
Fold the last pleat.
Fold the waist band down in front.
Continue folding around to the rear. Make one more fold in the waist band and release your gut and there will be enough tension to hold your sarong. Wrapped, pleated, and tropical, but most of all, comfortable and attractive. Remember that we are all different sizes. Most of my sarongs are approximately 44"X 66". If you are larger you want to get longer sarongs. I have seen them for sale at 80" long.
