I had a thought as I sometimes do. I was thinking that if things are named similar that they should have similar functions, and if they have the same type of idea perhaps they should work in much the same way.
Let me explain:
I think that the animal shelter is a wonderful thing. I have used the animal shelter on a few occasions. I went there once because my dog came up missing. They didn't have it, but they did happen across it and contacted me. Wow! I got my pet back. So I know they are wonderful if you have lost a pet.
I have also used their adoption service. One time when I had no pet. I went all over looking for a pet. I went to the pet shop at the mall. I checked with breeders. I looked in the newspaper. I just couldn't find a pet that I really connected with at a price I was willing to spend. Then I went to the animal shelter. I looked at the cats and dogs that they had. I decided that I would get one of three different animals. I was looking at two dogs, and a cat. Not being a cat person, I thought one of the dogs would definitely be going home with me. While I was pondering my decision I was holding the cat. I was already calling it stretch as I'm looking at the dogs. It was longer than most cats of it's size and had the body shape almost like a ferret. In case you haven't figured it out yet, I left with the cat.
The shelter is usually run by the same people who catch the stray animals. These they try to adopt them out but if they don't find a home they put them to sleep. I know it's a sad thing to happen but that is what happens when we are irresponsible with our pets. Some people take their animals to the shelter to have put to sleep if they get mean, too old or sick. Some people even send an animal to the shelter just because they are tired of it, or don't want to care for it anymore.
I was driving the other day in a part of town I'm unfamiliar with and happened upon a place I had never seen before. It had a name on a small sign in the front near the door. The sign identified the building as a womens shelter. WOW!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. Imagine the possibilities! If your wife turned mean, you could call the womens shelter and have them come and pick her up. Of course if no one adopts her within two weeks you do realize they will put her to sleep? You could easily find a new one just by visiting every so often to look in the kennels and see what was recently acquired. Imagine never again having to throw your wife in the back of the truck so you could drive out to the country to drop her off at a farm. I imagine that if I were to call the shelter to come get my wife they'd have a real hard time trying to get that harness around her neck. She'd turn mean real quick. They might even decide to put her down right then and there. If they did manage to get her in the back of the truck she'd realize that she was caught and just start wining for days. I'd just have to hope that no one else adopted her because she always finds her way back here and I really think I don't want to be there for that.
