Easter Bunny Arrested Local police last night were called to the scene of a disturbance. Residents in the Lakeside Subdivision saw what appeared to be a large rabbit entering an unoccupied house and leaving with a basket of what seemed to be construction tools. When investigators arrived on the scene they found evidence of forced entry. Investigators also found very large rabbit prints in the dirt directly under the window that had been broken to gain entry to the house. There is also a well traveled bunny trail nearby. An all points bulletin (APB) was put out for officers to be on the lookout for a large rabbit that was burglarizing homes under construction. According to descriptions of eyewitnesses the rabbit was six feet tall, had very long ears and walked on his hind legs. Later a rabbit fitting the description of the crooked bunny was arrested. In his possession was a large basket of candy, toys, and colored eggs. Identifying himself as Peter Cottontail he denied being involved in the theft. After several hours of interrogation police could not place Mr. Cottontail at the scene of the crime at the correct time but decided to charge Mr. Cottontail with trespassing after he admitted to entering other residences allegedly to "deliver" candy and gifts. According to police, the investigation is continuing. Mr. Cottontail will be arraigned Monday. In similar news, the tooth fairy was sentenced to five years suspended sentence after trying to bribe the judge with a dollar under his pillow.
